| Uniform Commercial Code and if you had paid attention in those law classes you would know that 1) The UCC deals with "commercial" transactions. UCC does not apply to sales between individuals. 2) More specifically, Article 2 of the UCC deals with the Sale of goods involving "merchants" and there is no section 622 as seen here [ http://www.law.cornell.edu/ucc/ucc.table.html ] Unless this guy normally deals in transmissions he is not a merchant. In fact he could be a merchant of other goods but if he doesn't normally sell transmission it does not make him a merchant in your case. There may be a section 2-622 in your states Code of Civil Procedure which requires to to complete an affidavit of some sort, but that would not apply in this case either. When buying from an individual it is always Caveat Emptor.
